Hello everyone,
I apologize for taking so long to get a new post up, but we've been very busy with the coming of the warmer weather. Let me update you on the past week and what you can look forward to for the rest of the month.
On April 2nd, the PEP coalition hosted a town hall meeting at 6 pm. Several people were in attendance, including three students from Lee County High School. The topic of discussion was the underage use of alcohol. The students gave Powerpoint presentations relaying some of the information that they have learned while participating in classes with Kat Tipton at the High School. We appreciate having these students attend the meeting and giving their presentations.
On Saturday, April 5th, Terry and I took ten students selected from each of Lee County's public schools to the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. These students were nominated by their teachers for the trip based on their academic performance, and interest in the field of aviation and engineering. The trip was a great success, and we encourage you to check this week's papers for a picture of the group. I will have a special post on the blog later with more pictures.
We're still having soccer practices on Monday at 6 and Saturday morning at 10, and all who are interested are encouraged to attend. We're going to try to arrange some matches with the Breathitt county leagues, and we'll let you know when the details get worked out.
On Friday, April 11th, we will be showing the new movie "Enchanted" in the upstairs portion of the PEP building. Showtime will be around 7 pm, and as always the movie, popcorn and drinks are free.
PEP will be hosting a community golf event at the Beattyville Country Club on Saturday, April 19th. For more information, please contact Terry at 464-0494.
As always, make sure to check the paper for our monthly schedules, and advertisements for events. Terry plans to start a new round of Cooper Clayton smoking cessation courses in the next few weeks, and we encourage anyone who has the desire to kick their smoking habit to give us a call.
Have a great week and check back often for new posts.
Sincerely,
Josh Neiderman
