TEEN THEATRE

The week of 24-27 March, PEP had auditions for "The Life of the Party" a collection of 3 one act plays designed to teach and practice resistance skills when dealing with peer pressure and alcohol use. Ads in local papers and at the High School and Middle School resulted in only one person showing up for the audition. Far from being discouraged, the initiative to use drama and the arts as an avenue for coping with the lure of drugs and alcohol abuse, violence, and despaire in the community will continue by finding better ways to get the word out.

The value of arts is clearly a part of our culture. It transcends the generations and is a virtually untapped source of inspiration, motivation and opportunity in our community.
